Sponsored walk to help canine friends

Ashbourne Animal Welfare has organised a sponsored walk for dog lovers, to take place at Ilam Hall, on Sunday, September 28, from 10.30am-4pm.

There will be a choice of pleasant country walks to suit all abilities.

You can walk with or without your dog. There is an easy route through the country park of just under two miles for those walkers wanting a gentle stroll, a second walk of four miles, which is a bit more strenuous or the more energetic can combine the two.

If you can’t join in on the day, you can spomnsor one of The Ark dogs to do the walk for you.

Chloe, Ruby, Sachi, Pip and Lottie all ex-rescue dogs are willing to walk for you. Chloe, a black Labrador and Ruby, a tiny Chihuahua cross Jack Russell,. will be doing the shorter walk (both are older girls and can’t walk as far as they used to and Ruby’s legs are very short), Pip and Lottie are also Jack Russells and will be walking with Sachi another Labrador cross and will do the longer walk along with a Mystery Dog, selected from one of the current residents at The Ark.

Organisers hope walkers will get as much sponsorship as they can but if this is difficult then walkers can simply come along on the day and for a donation of £5 join in the walk.
