The Raven is an entertaining and original comic gothic horror rendition of Edgar Allan Poe’s classic tale of lost love and despair.

The performance opens with the zombie who is soon joined by Nosferatu, the vampire. When Edgar Allan Poe appears on stage the story begins, with Poe narrating his most famous work, whilst Nosferatu provides the insight and meaning behind the words. Of course, The Raven has to put in an appearance, and this malevolent bird is the focal point for the remainder of the show.

The show has been adapted by Whaley Brodge author Michael Madden. He said: “The Raven is such an evocative piece. Very visual, which we have built on to include a vampire and a zombie, and of course The Raven itself. “

The Raven will be performed by Lady M Youth Theatre whose cast are veterans of the stage, having been a part of the Chapel High School productions of The Wizard Of Oz and Guys And Dolls, as well as appearing in the 2014 Fringe with Crossroads.

Performances are at the Pauper’s Pit, Buxton, on July 12 and 21 at 10.15pm and July 17 and 19 at 2.45pm. Tickets from Underground Venues.
