Chesterfield-based lettering artist Elizabeth Forrest has decorated an owl as part of a collection of sculptures which have taken up perch across Birmingham.

She was among 50 artists selected for The Big Hoot after organisers received hundreds of applications.

Elizabeth, of Peak District Artisans, said: “I’m delighted to have been chosen to take part in The Big Hoot.”

The 89 owl sculptures are 165cm tall and have been decorated by artists and community groups, with a parliament of 120 smaller owlet sculptures crafted by students and teachers.

After communities and visitors have enjoyed The Big Hoot which is on show until September 27 and stretches from the city centre to Sutton Coldfield, Winson Green to Bournville, the large owls will be raffled for Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
