Opera on Location to stage Eugene Onegin at Sheffield City Hall

Tchaikovsky’s iconic opera Eugene Onegin will be staged in Sheffield City Hall’s art deco ballroom next week.

Performed in the round, the production will take advantage of the venue’s high ceilings and marble features, transporting the audience to the lavish dance halls and palaces of 19th century St Petersburg.

Widely regarded as Tchaikovsky’s greatest operatic work, Eugene Onegin is a tumultuous and epic Russian drama adapted from the great Pushkin novel, following the life of the disenchanted twenty-something-year old Eugene and the events that lead to his downfall.
