Benjy CJ said: “I’m really looking forward to playing this year’s carnival, been great to see the event grow and grow each year, something that brings the whole community together.”

This is is the third year that the carnival has run in Hall Leys Park, Matlock.

Attractions at this year’s event will include 60 stalls including arts, craft, vintage and food.

There’s plenty to keep young and old entertained, from archery, courtesy of Dales Bowmen, to climbing wall, funfair and superheroes including Batman, Spiderman and Iron Man.

Matlock Carnival is organised by local businesses The Loft, Fresh and Maazi.

The family attraction promises to be the highlight of the ten-day Matlock Festival.

As a warm-up to a weekend of music and merriment, Facsimile will be playing at the Twenty Ten bar in Matlock on Friday, July 24, at 9pm.

The covers band, which play hits by Kings of Leon, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Ed Sheeran, were booked back by festival organisers after a storming performance last year.
