Heartbeat of charity’s fundraising plea

Choirs and performers in Derbyshire are being urged to flex their vocal cords in the run-up to Christmas.

Singing is good for your heart and studies have shown that the health benefits are both physical and psychological because it is an aerobic activity that increases oxygenation in the blood stream.

Heart Research UK is urging groups to Sing for Your Heart and raise money for the prevention, treatment and cure of cardiac disease.

The charity has spent nearly £400,000 on research grants in East Midlands in the last 15 years and nearly £70,000 on healthy heart grants in the region’s communities.
