FOUNTAIN FOUR TO MAKE A SPLASH

Folk aces St Agnes Fountain are appearing in Belper on Thursday, December 4, in what will be an eagerly-awaited gig for fans in the area.

St Agnes Fountain are embarking on their 14th consecutive Christmas tour, bringing their festive songs and carols to Christ Church, Bridge Street, Belper, from 8pm.

This extremely talented quartet is made up of top folk duo Chris While and Julie Mathews, Chris Leslie from Fairport Convention, and founder member David Hughes on keyboard, guitars, fiddle, mandolin and stunning harmonies.

“The Aggies” will be playing songs from their latest CD, as well as new versions of classic Christmas carols, original compositions and one or two fun surprises.

Their magical live performances have endeared them to an ever-growing audience. They bring to Christ Church more of their sparkling musicianship, humour and heartfelt renditions of your favourite Christmas songs.

n The village of Fritchley celebrates Christmas with the lighting of the Christmas tree on Wednesday, December 10, at 7pm.

Local playwright Tim Elgood will be officially switching on the lights, followed by carols on the Village Green with Crich Brass and the The Whatstandwell Warblers.

Santa has promised a visit too, arriving in his vintage car with sweets for the children.

Afterwards, you will be welcomed into the Village Hall for refreshments and a few party games, including Stand Up Bingo which is back by popular demand.
