Festival acts gear up for Ale House Rocks

Saturday’s event at the Square & Compass pub will be headlined by nu-disco trio Patawawa.

Festival organiser Paul Taylor said: “Patawawa have just signed to Soundplate Records and have their first single coming out later on in September so it is a real pleasure to have them play locally, headlining a bill of excellent acts.”

The line up will again see 12 acts take to the stage from midday until 11pm.

Alan Atkin, organiser and landlord of the Square and Compass, said: “Derbyshire is such a hotbed of musical talent that it was never going to be too difficult to find more incredible local artists for the third edition of the festival.”

Complementing Patawawa’s disco-pop stylings at the top of the order are indie hip-hop group Spit ‘n’ Strings. The rock section of the day is made up of Stand Amongst Giants, the resurgent Joe Man Hater, the bluesy Black Hearted Devils of Darley Dale and guitar effects pedal manipulators Echoed in Earth. Left Hand Drive continue their 20th anniversary tour with a slot at the festival, whilst HATi brings her acoustic-electro solo show from Newcastle. The first two bands to play will be 45 and Dogboy while the festival opens with acoustic sets from Dan Hughes and Benjy CJ.
