DaleDiva and piano talent to perform in concert

Derbyshire women’s chorus DaleDiva will be performing as part of an afternoon celebration of young piano playing talent in Ashbourne next week.

The Divas are special guests at the event, organised by piano teacher Ann Pepper to showcase the talent of her students.

Ann organises a concert every two years to help the young pianists develop their performance skills by playing in front of an audience and this year it will take place at Ashbourne Methodist Church.

There will be around 18 students aged five to 15 of all abilities performing solos and duets and for some it will be their first time playing in public.

There will also be a presentation to students who have recently taken a piano exam.

As well as being their tutor, Ann is also one of DaleDiva’s newest recruits and has asked her fellow chorus members to be special guests and perform a few songs in each half of the concert.

DaleDiva musical director Ally Law said: “We were delighted to be involved in this concert as we’re very keen to support young musical talent and know it can take a lot of courage to perform in public – particularly for the first time.

“We’ll be sharing the stage to add our own Diva brand of moral support for these youngsters and we’re very much looking forward to hearing the results of all their hard work.”

There will be a raffle at the interval with proceeds going towards funding the performance and supporting the DaleDiva’s fundraising campaign to help them on their way to the World Championships in Las Vegas.

The Matlock Bath-based chorus won a place in the competition, which will take place at the famous MGM Grand in October 2015, after winning its class in the regional round at Nottingham’s Royal Concert Hall earlier this year.

The piano concert will take place at Ashbourne Methodist Church, Church Street, Ashbourne, DE6 1AE on Saturday 11 October at 2pm.

Tickets, £8 for adults and £2 for children, are now available from Ann or Jane on 07988 713 903 or 07595 068 120 or by emailing [email protected]
