Barrie Fox was inspired to enter after performing at the White Swan in Chesterfield. He said: “I got some positive feedback from the other acts which made me decide to do the Crooked Smile award.”

He attended a comedy course run by competition founder Anthony J. Brown and thought the contest would be a good opportunity to focus those ideas and perform in a great venue.
