Derby Hospitals Choir has raised well over £140,000 for health related charities in over 30 years with its big annual Christmas concert – so it wasn’t going to be beaten by the temporary closure of the Assembly Rooms.

The choir has swapped its usual venue for the beautiful surroundings of Derby Cathedral, providing the perfect Christmas atmosphere, for this year’s concert, which will take place on Friday, November 28, and also features Belper-based Derwent Brass.

Originally formed in 1983 to perform a “one-off” concert to raise money for the Macmillan Continuing Care Unit, the choir has been going ever since with a Christmas concert every year to raise money for a health-related charity based in and around Derby.
