Canadian ace comes to Belper venue this week

Canadian songwriter Dennis Ellsworth will be playing a gig at The Queens Head, Belper, on Saturday, February 7.

Influenced by music from an early age, Dennis quickly moved onto the circuit, building a firm fanbase in Canada and America.

An admirer of the great Roy Orbison, Dennis describes his writing as the product of dark optimism. “I’m hopeful but I’m not a firm believer.”

Playing an acoustic guitar ‘rescued’ from a Catskills cabin, Dennis recorded his album Hazy Sunshine over five days and nights in the bleak Canadian winter wilderness and some of that desolation finds its way into the music.

A literate and thoughtful performer with six records under his belt, Dennis brings a fine body of work to the Belper venue.

Due for release early summer 2015, Dennis has reunited with the band from his Dusk Dreams album to create a new record Romantic As It Gets, recorded at Chase Park Transduction in Athens, GA and produced by David Barbe (Drive By Truckers, Sugar).

Doors open at 8.15pm and admission is £7 to see Dennis Ellsworth.
