Blues great in the spotlight

The venue is The Cube, at Deda, based on Chapel Street, and the concert is entitled The Life Of Bessie Smith.

The touring show starts with Sarah singing a capella blues before joining her musicians for a trip through a selection of Bessie Smith’s classic songs.

The show also uses wry wit to provide insight into the personal and social challenges that Smith faced in the 20s and 30s.

The Life Of Bessie Smith starts at 8pm. Admission is £10.
