Bill Oddie to share tales from birdwatching career

Author, actor, comedian, artist, naturalist and musician Bill Oddie is winging his way to Derbyshire.

He will be appearing in Buxton Opera House on Saturday, July 25, at 10.15am.

Bill has developed an established reputation as a keen and committed birdwatcher and has written anumber of bestselling books on this subject including the legendary Bill Oddie’s Little Black Bird Book.

In his presentation at the Opera House, which forms part of Buxton Festival, Bill will look back over a lifetime of birdwatching, and the wildlife he has been fortunate to see on his many travels over the years.

He will recall a less than satisfactory press trip to theGalapgaos in the 1980s and encounters with orcas in Argentina and Iceland and an invisible tiger in India.

Bill was the UK’s favourite wildlife presenter, regularly fronting Springwatch and Autumnwatch which had a daily audience of more than 4m viewers.

He first came to the attention of the public as the star of the biggest comedy hit of the 70s. the Goodies, appearing alongside Buxton’s Tim Brooke-Taylor.
