The popular Belper Open Gardens event being held on Saturday and Sunday will feature a trail of more than 20 gardens, giving visitors a unique opportunity to explore some of the Derbyshire town’s hidden horticultural gems.

Organiser Kathy Fairweather, who will again be opening up her garden at 26 Windmill Rise, said last year’s event was a huge success, welcoming hundreds of people from across the UK and raising in excess of £1,200 for local charities.

“Visitors will be able to meander through the historic streets of Belper and enjoy a variety of our private gardens, public parks and award-winning eateries,” she commented.

Refreshments, including home-baked cakes, plant sales and entertainment will also be on offer.

The participating gardens will be open between 11am and 4pm on both days.

Tickets are £3 per person (children free) to cover all the gardens on both days. These can be purchased from Fresh Basil Eatery, on Strutt Street in Belper.
