The five-piece were gutted when they learned they couldn’t play the Help for Heroes charity gig at the Dunston Inn this Saturday, as they were already booked.

But they decided to still do their bit for the armed services charity, by releasing a single.

Singer James Horne said: “On account of us all having close friends in the armed forces, and an inherent respect and gratitude for their hard and dangerous work, we wanted to show our support in a different and creative way.”

The band recorded a version of Bowie’s Heroes at the Lockup Studios, Killamarsh, and are selling the CD with a suggested donation of £3.

“Thanks to generous donations from local businesses Bank House Chambers, Broadbents Solicitors and Pugh Lewis, we’ve been able to produce 500 copies of the CD, with a view to raising £1,500 for the worthy cause,” James added.

The CD is available from the band, local businesses, as well as the H4H gig which takes place at The Dunston Inn, on Saturday, from noon.
