BAKEWELL/MATLOCK: G&S Society draft in the Home Guard for Patience
Matlock Gilbert and Sullivan Society has already worked its magic on The Mikado, which it set in a nightclub, Iolanthe in which the traditional fairies became militant members of the WI and The Gondoliers where the punting boatmen were promoted to cruise ship officers.
Ten years after their production of Patience was set in the world of interior designers, the company have now pitched it against the Second World War, complete with Home Guard.
