The award winning four-part harmony group has organised the perfect opportunity for would-be singers and performers to unleash their inner Diva.

It will be running, for the first time, a free four-week education programme to give women and girls aged over 16 the chance to learn the basics of a capella singing, improve their skills to become a better singer, increase their confidence and work alongside the other Divas to learn Pharrell Williams’s summer pop hit Happy.

Applicants don’t have to read music or have any previous experience or training and will not have to sing on their own.

The programme is designed to attract potential new members to help DaleDiva prepare for the barbershop World Championships in Las Vegas next year.

DaleDiva founder and musical director Ally Law, 45, said: “It’s very rare that we host events like this to attract new recruits because we already have a great membership with 66 Divas.

“But we want to take as strong a team as possible to the World Championships in Las Vegas next year and build on the talent we already have.

“I’ll be looking for women and girls with the ‘D’ factor – that inner Diva that will shine through on stage and help us take on the world.

“You don’t need any previous experience or training, just bags of energy and enthusiasm and the time to commit to this fantastic hobby.”

DaleDiva won its World Championship place when it took gold in its class in regional competition at Nottingham’s Royal Concert Hall earlier this year, competing against 16 of some of the best choruses from England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and the Netherlands.

The winners of the annual regional competition, organised by global singing organisation Sweet Adelines International, are invited to represent the region at the world championships in the USA the following year.

The free four-week education programme will run at DaleDiva weekly rehearsals on Thursday, October 9, 16, 23 and 30, from 7.30pm to 10pm at Matlock Bath Holy Trinity Church, Derby Road, Matlock Bath, DE4 3PU.
