Tree for Old Road, the Old Road Christmas tree will be lit at 7.30pm at the bottom of The Gospel Mission Church yard near Serpent Motors. There will be carols around the tree with music from The Ashover Band, presents for the children from Santa and coffee and mince pies afterwards.

Christmas Fair, at Dronfield Infant School. Meet Father Christmas in his grotto and have heaps of festive fun with lots of games, prizes, craft activities, face painting, tattoos, raffle and tombola. And there will be refreshments, food, gifts and treats also on sale. Entry costs 50p per adult – children are free. 6pm till 8pm.

Final Curtain, a Christmas play at Alfreton Wesley Church, Ellesmere Avenue, Alfreton, at 7pm. The Comedy mixes with tragedy as a pantomime group struggles to keep going during the dark days of World War Two. Admission free. Collection for the Meningitis Trust. Fun Day, The Friends of Eastwood Park, Hasland, are joining with the Hasland and St Leonard’s Safer Neighbourhood Team to run a Community Christmas fun day in Hasland Village Hall, Eastwood, from 1pm till 3.30pm.

Carols in the Spire, Local brass band, the Ireland Colliery Chesterfield Band will be hosting the Carols in the Spire Concert in the historic Church of St Mary and All Saints Chesterfield, 6.30pm till 8pm. Christmas Market, at the Zion Church on Chatsworth Road, 11am till 4pm, variety of gifts, cakes, cards, jewellery, reindeer food etc, mulled wine and mince pies, the church band will be playing carols etc through out the day. Several business from Chatsworth Road are having stalls too to make it a real Chatsworth Road affair. Santa will be arriving at 12noon in a carriage pulled by two reindeer (horses with antlers on!) will be in his special Santa’s Grotto from 12.30pm.
