Turn again, Whittington

Thigh-slapping hero Dick Whittington and his faithful cat Tom hit Sheffield City Hall this week when a family panto hits the stage.

Manor Operatic Society will be presenting their seasonal production from Tuesday, December 27, to Saturday, January 7.

Expect speciality circus acts, an underwater spectacular, a cartload of slapstick, a baking scne and bucket game, plus a few jokes for the audlts.

Local celebrity, Bob Spink, takes on the role of the Dame, while other well-known Manor faces include Simon Hance as the outrageous baddie King Rat, Hollie Denton as the magical Fairy Bow Bells plus the society’s panto aficianado Psaul Hill as the Alderman Fitzwarren.

Award winning and outrageous Alex McVeigh is the much-loved magical cat ‘Tom’ and panto hero Dick is played by Emma Holmes.

First established back in the 1950s, Manor Operatic Society have been staging productions in Sheffield for over 60 years and have been performing at the City Hall since 1986. The society’s aim has always been to produce affordable family entertainment.
