FAMILIES looking for fun-packed activities to start the summer holiday are in for a treat at an annual puppet festival.
Large-scale shows and workshops featuring rod and umbrella puppets, shadow puppetry and 3D puppet animals are the ingredients of the tenth Buxton Puppet Festival next week.
The Pavilion Arts Centre will host various shows including the family-friendly Rumplestiltskin and Puppet Parade, combining marionette and rod puppets, on Thursday, July 26 and The Firebird, suitable for spectators aged six years and upwards, on the same day.
Puppet shows will also be held in the atmospheric Pauper’s Pit, including Aladdin & His Magic Lamp and Red Riding Hood, suitable for children aged three and over, on Monday, July 23, and Pip’s Wildlife Gardem (aged three to six) on Tuesday, July 24.
Workshops will include tuition in the art of shadow puppetry on Tuesday, July 24, and a demonstration and lesson in creative puppetry on the same day.
