Office worker by day, star of stage and laughter by night - that’s the beauty of amateur dramatics.
Right across the country there are talented individuals who devote themselves to a double-life to bring smiles to audiences of all types.
Manor Operatics is a great example of this and it packs out Sheffield City Hall with the group’s panto every Christmas for nights on end.
This year’s offering is Snow White and the Seven Dwarves.
It is everything you could hope for from a panto and so much more.
There are jokes and puns so wonderfully awful that you can’t stop yourself groaning out loud.
Colourful costumes, nifty choreography, great singing and a spot-on script make up all the ingredients for a perfect Christmas treat.
There is a generous sprinkling of northern humour but also some genuinely brilliant talent on show.
Surely even pop talent The Wanted would forgive the hilarious remix of Walks Like Rihanna - transformed in She Walks Like My Nanna. This year’s show is partly in tribute to the group’s long-time director Brian Platts who died recently. His dame performances were legendary and he will no doubt be looking down with a big grin.
Snow White is on until Sunday, January 5. Call 01709 365108 for tickets.
