Have your say

Ever wished you could have lived by your wits in the heat of the American frontier? Or spend your nights drinking whiskey and playing cards in the saloon?

Ever wished you could have lived by your wits in the heat of the American frontier? Or spend your nights drinking whiskey and playing cards in the saloon?

Buxton Opera House is offering the next best thing – a window into the Wild West with a national tour of Calamity Jane, on stage from May 26 to 30.

The action starts with Calamity Jane who can outrun and outshoot any man in Deadwood.

Hard, boastful and desperate to impress, Calamity Jane travels to Chicago to recruit a star, Adelaid Adams, for the Deadwood Stage. But things don’t go too smoothly for Calamity, as everyone in town favours the new girl and she struggles to keep her jealousy and pride in check.  It takes her long standing enemy Wild Bill Hickok to make her see sense, and realise her Secret Love…

The brand-new, whip-cracking production stars TV’s Jodie Prenger (I’d Do Anything, Oliver! and Spamalot) in the title role.

Tom Lister from Emmerdale plays Wild Bill Hickok in a cast of multi-talented actors and musicians.

The hot-shot of a show with an Oscar nominated score features the songs The Black Hills of Dakota, The Deadwood Stage (Whip-Crack-Away), Just Blew in from the Windy City and the award winning song Secret Love.

Watermill Theatre is known for getting to the heart and soul of their musical productions. Calamity Jane follows highly acclaimed adaptions of Sweeney Todd and Sunset Boulevard. Calamity Jane takes place from Tuesday 26 to Saturday 30 May at 7.30pm. Matinees take place on Thursday and Saturday at 2.30pm.

Tickets are priced from £16 to £38 and discounts are available. To buy tickets call the box office on 0845 127 2190 or visit buxtonoperahouse.org.uk
