Adventurous fundraisers are urged to tackle the Mam Tor Mountain Challenge above Castleton and raise a stack of cash for charity.

The 10-mile circular hike takes place on Saturday, October 6, 2012, when proceeds from sponsorship will go to Marie Curie Cancer Care.

The charity helps to care for terminally ill patients at home or in hospices as well as offering support to their families. In one year, 2,000 Marie Curie nurses provide 1.2m hours of nursing to 23,406 patients across the country.

Hikers wishing to back the charity by taking part in the Mam Tor Mountain Challenge must be at least 16 years old. Participants 16-18 years old must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

The registration fee is £10 and the minimum amount of money to be raised in sponsorship is £50.

Mam Tor is known as the shivering mountain due to it constantly changing shape.
