DERBYSHIRE’S biggest ceilidh band will be raising money for charities in the county.

A fundraising evening featuring the Derbyshire Volunteers takes place at the Spanker Inn, Nether Heage, near Belper, on Thursday, March 22, at 8.30pm.

The band is a mix of folk musicians, singers and multi-instrumentalists playing concertinas, melodeons, fiddles, guitars, percussion, keyboards and brass, who contribute their performances to charitable causes.

The last charity the Volunteers supported was Water Aid when almost £1,000 was donated.

Admission is free to Thursday’s fundraiser, when there will be free interval food and a raffle to boost charity coffers. All enquiries to (01773) 853428 or (01773) 853222.
