A new Chesterfield band is set to play their first home town gig after recording their debut single.
Last Lives, made up of singer Nick Abbott, drummer Jason Kallend, bassist Adam MacGuigan and guitarists Alex Farndon and Aaron Shore, will be playing at The Sun Inn on August 16.
The alternative rock band, which takes its influences from the likes of Young Guns, Lower Than Atlantis, Deaf Havana, Biffy Clyro and Don Broco, hopes their first single Car Heart - with video shot by James MacColl of Ferguson Creative - will be well received.
Aaron, of Walton, said: “Our music is very honest. We play what we listen to everyday. If we want to write a catchy song then we’ll try to write the catchiest song possible, if we want to write a ‘heavy’ song with lots of pace, then we won’t limit ourselves when doing that. For us it’s about trying to make all these ideas and influences mix into our own sound.”
The band’s sound began a year ago when the group of friends, who had known each other from Green Room days, began jamming.
Aaron said: “We think the local scene is really strong at the moment. We have a wide range of influences and backgrounds in music, from the heaviest metal to the catchiest pop-punk bands.
“Gig wise, there’s something for everybody available around town, whether it’s awesome cover bands or budding original bands like ourselves. There has always been a massive music scene in Chesterfield.”
