Chesterfield trio Educatables are gearing up for the biggest gig of their lives after landing a support slot with acclaimed rapper Professor Green.
The lads will play the Doncaster Rovers Keapmoat Stadium on July 27 as one of the show’s opening acts.
Educatables manager Gaz Barson said: “It is expected to be a 13,000 sellout and will be by far the biggest gig we’ve ever done.
“We didn’t “buy-on” to the gig and we didn’t win it in some “Facebook Competition”, I was approached and was asked if the band would do it.
“It’s a massive opportunity for us to appeal to a large crowd and we intend to use it as a springboard to greater things.”
It’s been a roller-coaster few months for the band, who are the reigning Derbyshire Times Band of the Year champs.
They were heartbroken after their van was raided and most of their gear stolen.
But support from local bands and shops offering to loan equipment, as well a donation of £1,200 to help them buy new instruments, lifted their spirits.
Gaz said: “People have been so generous over the last few weeks.
“It’s very humbling and restores my faith in human nature.”
