DERBYSHIRE music fans have the chance to catch a high-flying band this week, before they really take off.
Nu-folk outfit Son of Eagle are making waves in the industry, having just signed a publishing deal with Bucks and attracting interest from major labels.
They feature two familiar faces from the Chesterfield scene in the form of drummer Liam Walker and bassist Phil Thompson.
The pair featured in Derbyshire Times Band of the Year winning outfit Lukas and teamed up with singer/guitarist Ben Edmonds, guitarist Dean Collier and violinist Sarah Lloyd as Son of Eagle.
The quintet have had a busy festival season and are lining up a series of more intimate venues as part of a forthcoming tour.
“We’ve been playing lots of gigs at guild halls and at old theatres, it’s been amazing,” said Liam
But in the mean time, you can catch them locally this weekend when the band play Derby’s Victoria Inn tonight (Thursday).
If you like what you hear, you can check out their debut album From The Ground, released on Expat Records, and available via iTunes.
