Entries have flooded in since we launched this year’s Derbyshire Times Band of the Year contest.
But if you’re a musician and haven’t thrown your hat into the ring, don’t worry - there’s still time for you to enter the area’s most prestigious battle of the bands contest.
The showcase event has been highlighting the cream of local musical talent for over 20 years now.
Relaunched this year with a new format, it offers local groups the chance to claim some fantastic prizes, as well as the kudos and bragging rights of being named Derbyshire’s best band.
To enter, simply submit a three-track CD of songs, at least one of which must be original.
Send it in to Band of the Year Competition, Editorial Department, Derbyshire Times, 37 Station Road, Chesterfield, Derbyshire, S41 7XD.
Also include a band photo, if you have one, as well as a daytime contact number and the band’s biog details.
A panel of judges will pick the best bands from the demo entries and they will go on to battle it out LIVE at Chesterfield’s prestigious Winding Wheel venue in November.
Over the past two decades, bands of every kind have played at the finals, from rock, pop and punk, to folk, country and electronica.
The judging panel, which is made up of experienced musicians, writers and critics are looking for great songs - not great production values.
So don’t worry if you can’t afford to hire out Abbey Road studios to cut your demo entries.
The contest is open to musicians playing in groups, trios, duos or even solo artists.
So if you fancy getting your hands on some top prizes - and the chance to play the Winding Wheel, get in the ring and show them exactly just how good you are.
Closing date for entries is October 19. So get cracking!
