The Eagle Awards 2015 will celebrate the best in local amateur theatre when they are held at Derby Theatre on Sunday, July 19, from 7.30pm.

A number of Belper productions are in the running for an award, which is designed exclusively by Royal Crown Derby, and will be presented to individuals who have excelled in key areas.

Caroline Barth, head of learning at Derby Theatre, and Eagles co-ordinator, said: “The Eagle Awards is a key event in Derby Theatre’s annual calendar, celebrating the achievements of our vibrant amateur community.

“We have a fantastic array of acts and presenters again this year.”

Among those nominated for Best Production are Belper Players for The Diary of Anne Frank, while Belper Musical Theatre’s Kiss Me Kate is in the running in three categories: for the Best Musical award, for Chris Grantham in Best Performance In A Musical, and for The Brian Glazebrook Award for Outstanding Achievement, for its highly versatile set and moving fountain.

Finally, Brianna Undy from Belper Players is nominated for The Best Contribution by a Young Person for The Diary Of Anne Frank.
