SINGER-songwriter Mike Mellor has won a spot on the main stage at the next Stainsby Festival.

Mike, 32, from Mossley, Greater Manchester, lifted the prize by beating off nine challengers in the singers’ competition at this year’s event.

His song, Hold On, which tells the story of a friend searching for his parents in Ecuador, particularly impressed the judges.

The final was judged by Edwina Hayes (singer-songwriter) and Ben Daglish (Loscoe State Opera, Tomorrows Ancestor and main stage compere) at the 43rd festival last month.
