Do you need a prescription for laughter? Then here’s the cure as the classic British comedy, Doctor in the House visits the region, as part of a national tour.
Starring one of Britain’s best loved comedians, Joe Pasquale, and award-winning star of stage and screen, Robert Powell, Doctor in the House is on its way to Sheffield.
The prodcution follows the comic misadventures of an inexperienced young medical student, Simon Sparrow, at the beginning of a five-year internship. Continually falling foul of the irascible head surgeon Sir Lancelot Spratt, Sparrow’s social life is spiced up when he is taken under the wings of two student repeaters in the form of Tony Grimsdyke and John Evans to farcical consequences
Based on the semi-autobiographical novel by Richard Gordon, later made into a film starring Dirk Bogarde, Doctor in the House has delighted audiences for generations.
The show runs at the Lyceum Theatre from Tuesday, May 8 to Saturday, May 12.
Tickets can be bought from Sheffield Theatres’ box office, by phone on 0114 249 6000 or online at sheffieldtheatres.co.uk and are priced from £13 - £25 with discounts available.
