The final two performances of the Buxton Festival Double Bill, French operas Saint-Saens’ La princesse jaune and Gounod’s La Colombe and Mozart’s La finta giardiniera, will take place this weekend.

La princesse Jaune and La Colombe will be performed on Saturday at 7.15pm and La finta giardinera will be performed on Sunday at 3.30pm, both in the Opera House.

The lively and light-hearted operas have received great reviews from national journalists

Audience members under the age of 30 can attend any event in the final days of Buxton Festival for just £5.

Randall Shannon, Buxton Festival’s Executive Director, said: “The ‘Festival for a Fiver’ offer was designed to open new doors for students and young people who have never tried opera or our other music and literary events before.

“218 tickets were sold to the under-30s last year and we hope to encourage even more young people to experience the Festival this year.”

Festival for a Fiver tickets can be booked at Buxton Opera House on 0845 12 72 190 or in person at the Box Office. These tickets cannot be purchased online. Proof of age is required.
