The University of Derby’s Buxton Campus will host a public lecture that focuses on why putting trees at the heart of England has helped communities prosper.

Dr Sophie Churchill, who was awarded an OBE in 2011 for her services to the environment and led the creation of the National Forest in the Heart of England, will present her advocacy of forests and their values at the free lecture on May 28, from 6pm to 8pm.

Her lecture will describe how 200 square miles, including parts of Derbyshire, were turned over to forest between 2006 and 2014. Booking is essential, visit www.derby.ac.uk/events or email: buxtonmarketing@derby.ac.uk
