Television talent show winner Connie Fisher is starring in an award-winning musical which is on its way to our region during its national tour.

She will be taking centre stage in Wonderful Town, which hits the Lyceum Theatre, Sheffield, from May 1-5 and Nottingham Theatre Royal, from May 15-19.

Connie won the TV show How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria? in 2006 and went on to perform in The Sound of Music in London’s West End,

Her latest role sees her playing aspiring writer Ruth Sherwood, who arrives in New York City with her beautiful younger sister Eileen. Bursting with dreams of riches and romance, the indomitable pair meet an array of colourful characters in their search for success, causing chaos and delight at every turn.

Wonderful Town first premiered in New York in 1953 where it won five Tony Awards including best musical. The 2003 revival also won further Tony and Drama Desk Awards. Wonderful Town was last performed in London’s West End in 1986.
