Punters at a new comedy club will have a sneak preview of a show destined for one of the biggest festivals in Britain.
Rising star Chris Ramsey will help to launch the Stagefright venture in Matlock Bath on Wednesday, July 11.
He said: “I’m very much looking forward to it.
“I’ll be previewing material from my new stand-up show Feeling Lucky, ahead of a month-long Edinburgh Festival run and subsequent autumn tour across the UK. It’s basically a feel-good show and therefore hopefully the punters will all go home happy.”
Chris’s headline spot at the comedy club in The Fishpond hotel will be his first visit to the tourist resort. He said: “To be honest I haven’t a clue where Matlock Bath is. I just hope my sat nav is working that night.”
Stagefright is the seventh comedy club to be added to founder Anthony J. Brown’s burgeoning portfolio which includes similar ventures in Chesterfield and Dronfield.
Anthony said: “I await the opening night at The Fishpond with frenzied anticipation. It’s a marvellous venue which looks perfect for comedy with a great stage and sound system as well as plenty of room for laughter lovers to become immersed in mirth in comfortable surroundings.
“Maybe I can get the punters so heady with laughter that they won’t notice that they are seemingly missing a sea front.
“I’m delighted to have snagged the white hot comedic property that is Chris Ramsey and am confident that I’ll be bringing top drawer comedy to the fine folk of Matlock for many years to come.”
Scott Bennett, Sal Stevens and Steve Goodall will also be sharing their wit and wisdom with The Fishpond crowd in a show which kicks off at 8pm.
