Award-winning British Asian stand-up comedian Shazia Mirza is heading for Chesterfield.

She tops the bill at the Spotlight Comedy Club in the Winding Wheel tonight (Thursday, September 19).

Shazia sticks the figurative knife into political correctness with devastatingly funny effect.

Performing all over the world, she has racked up tours of America, Sweden, Denmark and France.

Television credits include CBS 60 Minutes, NBC’s Last Comic Standing, Paramount’s The World Stands Up and BBC’s Have I Got News For You.

Shazia has also graced the stage in several plays including The Vagina Monologues at the Royal Albert Hall.

Support for her show in Chesterfield comes from returning hero Glenn Moore, who scooped Spotlight Comedy Club’s Crooked Smile award in 2012.

A former Chortle student award runner-up and So You Think You’re Funny? finalist, Glenn’s inventive one-liners steeped in wordplay and lashings of posh buffoonery have established him as a ‘must see’ act on the British comedy circuit.

Glenn is also part of the acclaimed sketch duo Thunderbards, who were featured in GQ magazine’s ‘10 best acts of the Fringe’ at this year’s Edinburgh Festival.

Completing the line-up is the mistress of inventive material, Nicola James.

The show starts at 8pm. Tickets £11, £9 and £6 (student); to book, call 01246 345222.
