Fun-seekers are to be catered for in a temporary new home while their usual meeting place gets a makeover.
The Spotlight Comedy Club will be relocating to the the Market Hall Assembly Rooms in Chesterfield market place on Thursday, May 29, and Thursday, June 26, while the Winding Wheel is refurbished.
Iconic comedian Charlie Chuck headlines the fun on May 29. Famed as Uncle Peter from The Smell of Reeves & Mortimer, he has built up an army of fans from appearances on The James Whale Radio & TV Show and ITV’s Comedy Cuts. Among his claims to fame are performing at a birthday party as a special guest of Sir Paul McCartney.
Charlie has a manic and sometimes bewildering stage presence and an array of one liners, catchphrases and mannerisms that defy belief but tickle the funny bone.
He will be supported by no-nonsense Yorkshireman Scott Bennett, a former Comedy Cellar New Act of the year and Old Speckled Hen comedian of the year award winner, and Richard Jow, who brings worldy wise and undeniable logic to his set of gags.
The show on June 26 will be an Edinburgh Festival preview, starring comic spirit medium Ian D. Montfort, and Lost Voice Guy, who has appeared on CNN and BBC Breakfast.
Tickets for each show are £10.50 in advance, £12.50 on door or £7.50 for students. Contact 01246 345222 or www.chesterfieldtheatres.co.uk
