AN ACCLAIMED double bill of opera performed at last year’s Buxton Festival is up for a top gong at the prestigious Manchester Theatre Awards.

The double bill of Sibelius’s The Maiden in the Tower and Rimsky-Korsakov’s Kashchei The Immortal is shortlisted in the Best Opera category, receiving praise for its imaginative production and inventive design.

Randall Shannon, Executive Director, said: “It is thrilling to see a Buxton Festival production featured in the awards.”

This year’s Buxton Festival runs from July 5 to 21.
