Former police sergeant turned comedian, Alfie Moore, is taking a comic journey through the history of protest in his new show, I Predicted A Riot.

Alfie, who was born and raised in Hillsborough, Sheffield, will make his debut at the City Hall’s Memorial Hall on Wednesday, May 9.

Material for his show focuses on riots from ancient civilisation through to last summer’s unrest in Britain and Alfie will attempt to explain what causes them and what it feels to be on the other side of the riot shield.

His tales of life on the beat for the Humberside Police were a huge hit when he appeared on last year’s ITV comedy talent series, Show Me The Funny.

Alfie started working life as an apprentice at a Sheffield steelworks before joining the police where he worked for 18 years. He began to realise his crime briefings were getting laughs, so entered himself into a competition at his local comedy club and won.

Tickets for the show cost £12 and £10; call 01142 789 789 or www.sheffieldcityhall.co.uk
