Scores of people have been queuing to get their hands on tickets for Tom Jones’ concert at Chesterfield’s showpiece Proact Stadium.

The multi-million selling artist – known as Jones the Voice – will be swapping The Green Green Grass of Home for the green green grass of FC’s base on Saturday, June 7 2014.

Today, season ticket holders have been lining up outside the stadium to purchase tickets. They go on general sale from 9am tomorrow.

Tom’s appearance follows a concert by Sir Elton John who attracted an audience of around 15,000 to the stadium in 2012.

Best known for hits such as It’s Not Unusual, Kiss, Delilah and What’s New Pussycat, Tom was knighted in 2006.

He has reached out to a new generation of fans through his coaching on BBC 1’s talent show The Voice.
