Rallying call for musicians to join City of Sheffield Youth Orchestra

String, woodwind and brass players are invited to audition for a youth orchestra.

City of Sheffield Youth Orchestra is inviting applications from anyone of grade 6 or above and aged 21 or below.

The orchestra meets three times per year, there are three courses throughout the year followed by a one-week tour which next year will be in the UK.

This Easter the orchestra will be joined by South Yorkshire Chorus in a performances of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony at Sheffield City Hall.

The CSYO is the only west European Youth Orchestra to have performed with the Bolshoi Ballet and it has performed in Spain. Poland, Italy, Czech Republic, Italy, Germany and Switzerland.

Over the past few years the orchestra has been the winner of the Sainsbury’s Youth Orchestra Series on three occasions. given highly acclaimed performances at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and recorded at Abbey Lane Studios London, the first commercial recording of John Lennon’s last song.
