Put your best foot forward for tenth Autumn Footprints walking festival

Ramblers are invited to lace up their boots and join a walking festival in the picturesque Derbyshire countryside.

The tenth annual Autumn Footprints Amber Valley & Erewash Walking Festival kicks off on Saturday, September 8.

Forty guided free walks over 16 days will be led by volunteers and staff frrom over 20 organisations.

Running until September 23, the festival offers walkers the chance to visit areas of local heritage and natural history interest, taking participants alongside rivers and canals as well as through towns and villages. They range from one mile to 12 miles.

Marion Farrell from Groundwork Derby & Derbyshire, who is among the festival co-rodinators, said: “One of the aims of the festival is to encourage people to get more active and enjoy the countryside. “

The festival will be launched at Shipley Country Park Visitor Centre on Saturday at 10am, followed by a circular walk of 2.5 miles.
