A colourful musical set in a French finishing school will light up the north Derbyshire stage.

Woodseats Musical Theatre Company is to present The Boy Friend, by Sandy Wilson, at Dronfield Civic Hall next week.

This fast-paced frolic of a show made an international star of Julie Andrews.

The Boy Friend features tunes such as I Could Be Happy With You, It’s Nicer in Nice and A Room in Bloomsbury.

Cast members in the Woodseats’ production include Marilyn Barker, of Hill Top, Dronfield, who plays Madame Dubonnet, Mike Richardson, of Calver, who plays Percival Browne, and Adele Beckett, of Mosborough, who plays Hortense. Direected by Mary Newey, with musical direction by Hugh Finnigan, the show runs from Wednesday, June 20, to Saturday, June 23 at 7.30pm with a matinee on the Saturday at 2.30pm.
