BUXTON Opera House is gearing up for a sparkling Christmas with an array of festive shows on the menu.

Buxton Musical Society’s chorus and orchestra will get audiences into the festive spirit on Sunday December 9 with a special concert of carols and Christmas songs, conducted by Michael Williams. Special guests for the evening will be The Choir of Worcester College, Oxford.

Also on December 9, Blunderbus Theatre Company will be providing a stage adaptation of the best-selling book The Very Snowy Christmas with puppetry, music and songs.

Maddy Prior and The Carnival Band will provide their show Carols & Capers 2012 on Sunday December 16, with the renowned folk band providing a mix of renaissance and modern instrument.

Gervase Phinn will be at the venue on Monday December 17 with tales of life as a school inspector in the Yorkshire Dales, and a celebration of Christmas with anecdotes, poems and readings.

Christmas Crooners on Sunday December 23 will provide a fantastic night of Christmas favourites with songs from Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole, and Frank Sinatra as well as lots of carols.

And where better to watch a traditional family pantomime than the fairytale setting of the beautiful Edwardian Opera House. This year’s pantomime is Peter Pan, starring Glen Davies from Bear Behaving Badly and Louis Emerick - Mick Johnson from Brookside - as Captain Hook. This runs from Wednesday December 12 to Tuesday January 1.

To buy tickets, call the Box Office on 0845 127 2190 or visit www.buxtonoperahouse.org.uk.
