Rising local star contines to shine

Blair Dunlop

Blair Dunlop

North Derbyshire’s own Blair Dunlop has just released his first full-length solo album to glowing national reviews.

The 20-year-old (son of Ashley Hutchings and Judy Dunlop) has called on guest artists
including Rebecca and Megan Lovell of Larkin Poe, Joan Wasser (Joan As Policewoman), Ashley Hutchings, Pete Zorn, Tim Harries, Mark Hutchinson, Guy Fletcher and a string quartet, giving the album more of a full-blown band feel.

Blair is emerging as one of the finest singer songwriters and guitarists around, his unique sound and breath-taking style has received many plaudits.

The album, Blight and
Blossom, kicks off with Secret Theatre, which immediately showcases his delightful guitar style.

Less The Pawn a song which is critical of the current talent show culture features the vocals, mandolin and lap steel guitar playing of Rebecca and Megan Lovell.

Fallout, a melancholic break up song, features Blair’s compelling vocals and guitar. Threads’ is just Blair singing and accompanying himself on acoustic guitar showcasing his lightness of touch and breathtaking playing.

Billy in the Lowground is a lovely sounding tune with a lively bluegrass feel has full guest musician accompaniment.

This is a remarkble and enjoyable album from a talented musician, which can only serve to enhance his reputation.
