Music lovers can get the funk out when a brand new music night kicks off in Chesterfield.

The Thank Funk Its Thursday night makes its debut at Chesterfield’s Real Time Live on November 29.

The honour of playing the inaugural night goes to the Grey Cooper Love Party - a seven piece funk explosion from Sheffield.

Kev Bloom, from promoters ExposureLive Music who are putting on the night, said: “Strutting a set of original hard-hitting grooves with dynamite call-and-response vocal chants, hot horn section riffing and a hip-thrusting rhythm section, Love Party effortlessly fuse well-crafted songs and catchy hooks into an electrifying stage show.”

He added: ““With this new night we are bringing the best funk/soul/groove bands to Chesterfield, a genre of music that is somewhat overlooked on the local live scene and hope to engage a whole new audience of gig-goers with a different night out! - let’s get funky!”

Kev said he hoped the night would become are gular monthly fixture if it proved popular.

“Funk/Soul music appeals to so many people. I’ve already lined-up the Christmas show (20th Dec) which promises to be a belter. Hopefully we can build up to more nights in 2013, more funk nights or other styles, other venues depending on audience feedback.”

Tickets are priced at £3 in advance or £5 on the door and are available via Real Time Live, Marsden Street or via www.livepartyband.co.uk.
