Food and ale in perfect harmony

Rowley's

Rowley's

If you’re looking for the perfect accompaniment to your meal these days you don’t summon the sommelier, you ask the barman.

The revolution in British real ales means there’s a beer perfect for just about any dish you can think of.

And to prove it, Rowley’s restaurant of Baslow has joined forces again with Thornbridge Brewery for their annual food and beer matching evening this month.

Rowley’s will be serving a five-course winter menu complemented with a different Thornbridge ale for each dish. Tickets are £40 inclusive of beer and food.

The brewers will be available during the evening to answer questions.

The menu includes:

Honey Roast Pork Scratching Clusters on arrival, served with Kipling (South Pacific Pale ale) 5.2%

Char Grilled Pheasant Sausage with Pickled Red Cabbage served with Kill Your Darlings (Vienna Larger) 5.0%

Scottish Salmon Cured in Beer & Cold Smoked Over Thornbridge Hops served with Tzara (Koln Style Beer) 4.8%

Slow Cooked Osso Bucco of Derbyshire Pork with Butternut Squash & Spinach Saag Aloo, served with Jaipur (India Pale Ale) 5.9%

English Cheeses with a “Twist”, served with Wild Swan (White Gold Pale Ale) 3.5%

Sticky Stout Pudding with Bitter Chocolate & Stout Ice Cream, served with Thorny Goat Beer (Mocha Porter) 6.0%

The meal will be accompanied throughout with Rowley’s Marmite butter and stout bread.

The evening takes place at Rowley’s, in Baslow on Tuesday, January 22.
