The longest running cocktail venue offers a huge selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks as well as real ales and local food.
Chandlers may be bustling with revellers on Friday and Saturday nights but when we visited on Sunday afternoon the bar was quiet with a relaxed atmosphere.
The menu is concise but offers something for everyone with vegetarian and vegan options as we as locally sourced, organic meats.
Diners can enjoy breads with dips, cheese and deli boards, a selection of sandwiches, hot meals, soup and salads.
The bar also has a good range of burgers and I selected the tomato, olive and chili burger. The homemade chickpea patty, mixed with spicy chilies, black olives and tomato’s is a tasty vegetarian option served in a bun with salsa.
My companion chose Chandlers’ chili burger made with local organic beef and topped with homemade organic beef chili served in a bun with sour cream on the side.
The meat was succulent and the chili not too overpowering but gave the dish a good kick. You could tell the food was homemade with its delicious, rustic look.
Both came with salad and homemade potato wedges - cut in to bite size chunks and baked with olive oil and herbs.
Chandlers also has a selection of sweet treats including sticky toffee sponge cake and vegan raspberry and strawberry ice cream sundae.
On the day we visited they did not have the usual deserts on offer but had chocolate orange muffins and luxury Christmas cake which finished off our meals nicely.
With its laid back mood, vast selection of reasonably priced cocktails and good quality local menu Chandlers is a must for food and drink fans.
