This golden pair basked in Mediterranean sunshine on a special holiday to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.
Cynthia and Derrick Towle were whisked away to Malta for a week by son Martin and daughter-in-law Sharon before enjoying a party with family and friends at the Coronation Club in Clay Cross.

Mrs Towle (69) said: "Malta was beautiful, we really enjoyed it. And the party on the anniversary itself was absolutely wonderful."

The pair, who live on East Street, Clay Cross, married in 1959, at St Paul's Church, Hasland.

Mr Towle (75) was a miner for 34 years and then did farming and gardening work.

Mrs Towle worked at Robinson's factory and later was a van driver for a shoe repair firm.

They have one son, Martin (45), two step granddaughters and three step great grandchildren.

Mrs Towle said: "We've had 50 wonderful years together. We had Martin who is a wonderful person and we've got our daughter-in-law Sharon.

"We've always pulled together, and if we go out – we go together."
